S.O.T.A.M: A new era

S.O.T.A.M was created in the vision of its founder, JuanCarlos Cruz. Born in El Salvador, he came to Maryland as a child and became the first member of his family to attend college. After graduation, Juan Carlos decided to support other immigrant families by mentoring children in his community. 

In March 2015, S.O.T.A.M began it’s Futbol Academy. Starting with 4 students, it soon became a full competitive academy with 4+ teams. In that same year, Juan Carlos Cruz embarked on a mission trip to El Salvador. He had the opportunity to take our brand to a few of El Salvador's toughest rural communities and provided Free Open Clinics to children ages 5 to 14 years old. As you can imagine, the impact and experience was powerful to be part of.  El Salvador is a beautiful country, but it is corrupted by self destruction, poverty, lack of resources, and unfortunately - gang activity.

These experiences propelled “S.O.T.A.M Outreach”

In 2016 & 2017, God gave us the opportunity to return to El Salvador. Every year a bigger and new blessing.

Seeing how much each child & family appreciates the work put in to give them the best experience is the ultimate reward. They were not only shown grace and love through the Bible Studies brought by our team, but they were shown the power of Soccer.

They learned how to work together to achieve a goal (literally) but we also gave them the proper tools to understand that only by working together, we can achieve anything we set our minds to.

In 2018, Guatemala was hit by a tragic volcano. S.O.T.A.M couldn’t stay back! By sending t-shirts for kids and families that lost everything in this sad event, we helped put a smile on their face and spread a little hope. Hope that there is someone always ready to lend a helping hand.
